The Constitution
Celebrating the United States should not just be done on the 4th July. On September 17th we recognize Constitution Day. The Constitution is the most important document in our country. The Constitution is a list of rules, or guidelines, that protect and help citizens of the United States. Although rules do not always seem fun, we do need them everywhere; like in schools, neighborhoods, teams, and even families. Taking part in our government by voting, volunteering, and even expressing your thoughts and opinion on issues can be extremely exciting. Click below to find fun activities, facts, books, and websites that make government fun.

Lay Down the Law
Do you have rules in your family? The Constitution lists rules, and they are written down. This way we are able to keep track, use, and share our rules, or laws, if it is needed. See if you can think of all of the rules for your family. With family members think of a way to record and share these rules, they can be written like the constitution
or you can think of another way to record these rules, like a chart, illustrations, or a story. You can do the same for your classroom. Also, think about how your rules in your family are different than those in school. Talk about why some rules are different.
