Sometimes it seems like we spend more time in the dark in the winter than in the light!
Here are some activities that can make the dark and nighttime routines a bit easier and much more fun for your family.
With less daytime it is very difficult to play outside in December. Playing outside in the dark can be dangerous, especially with slick ice and snow on the ground! It is really important the kids and adults find a way to stay active though. Here are some ideas that can keep us moving through the dark, winter evenings:
Tune into television and turn it into exercise. Do you record or watch your favorite program after school? There are lots of programs on New Hampshire Public Television that include music. The next time you watch a program with music, don't just sit there, get up and dance! There are lots of opportunities to dance in programs like Between the Lions, It's a Big, Big, World, Sesame Street, and Super WHY! You can check to see when they're on by clicking here.
There are also great songs and music at the PBS Kids website. You can find tons of fun reasons and opportunities to dance.
