There are several reasons that leaves change color in the fall. Go to the library or use the internet with an adult to research “photosynthesis.”
Did you know the amount of sunlight a leaf is exposed to affects its color? Find a tree with green leaves such as a maple or oak tree. Take or draw a picture of the leaf. Cover the leaf with foil. Use tape to keep it secure. Check on it after one day, three days, and one week. What has happened? What is still the same? Why do you think the leaf changed? Record the differences.
