Resources

Tree Diary

leavesUsing pieces of blank paper, staples, and different art tools (like crayons, markers, water colors, etc.) keep track of the changes going on around you. Pick a tree in your yard, schoolyard, or community. Using a blank piece of paper create a diary entry every few days on the tree. What does the tree look like? How about the trees around it? What is the weather and sky like? Be sure to include illustrations using the various artistic tools. Also, be sure to mark the date and time on each entry. When finished, use your diary entries to create a book. Look at how the tree has changed. What has stayed the same.

Choose a single tree in your yard or neighborhood and track changes in it as time goes by.
