April is the perfect time to begin thinking about planning a garden. Children love to plant things and watch them grow! Gardening teaches children responsibility, gives them a greater appreciation of nature, and it's loads of fun!
biodegradable paper egg carton
seeds - marigold seeds, pansy seeds, and bean seeds all work well!
teaspoon
potting soil
water
scissors
crayons or markers
Cut of the lid of the egg carton. Use crayons of markers to decorate the egg carton. Fill each egg pocket with potting soil. Plant
a few seeds in each pocket. Place the egg carton in an area with plenty of sun and make sure to water the seeds. A windowsill works well. Keep a chart to track the growth of the seeds. When the plant sprout you can plant the whole egg carton outside or you can take each seedling out and plant it separately. If it is too cold to plant outside, you can or move the seedling to a larger container.
