Content Standard 10:

Students will know and understand the characteristics that are the basis for classifying organisms.

   Grades K-4

as surviving in environments that meet their needs;

with different structures that serve different functions in growth, survival, and  reproduction; 
as part of systems such as food chains;

as capable of  gathering information about themselves and their environments through senses;

Students will use information about living things including: 

the roles of structure and function as complementary in the organization of living systems;

the role of heredity and environment in the characteristics of individual organisms;

generations and may or may not be advantageous for the species;
