4.4 Life ScienceLife science focuses on the science facts, concepts, principles, theories, and models that are important for all students to know, understand, and use.

4.4.1 By the end of fourth grade, students will develop an understanding of the characteristics of living things.

Student demonstrations:Describe the various structures of plants and animals necessary for growth, survival, and reproduction.

Describe internal causes of behavior, such as hunger, and external causes of behavior, such as change in the environment, in living things.

Student demonstrations:Describe the life cycle of an organism. Recognize inherited characteristics of living things, such as color and number of eyes.
