moaThe species in this family are all extinct. Moas were large, flightless birds with powerful, muscular legs. They were found in New Zealand. Moas were up to 10 feet tall and weighed around 500 pounds.

Moas probally became extinct sometime in the 1500s. Moas were herbivores and probably disappeared due to forest clearing and hunting.
