Here are some of the things that NH ZOOMers are doing to
volunteer:
Six year old Rebecca and eight year old sister Jessica,
from Lancaster NH, visit a nursing home every other
Friday. They talk to the nursing home residents about their
lives and interests and how things were done along time ago. In
December of 2002 Rebecca and Jessica made 280 angel bookmarks to
pass out to the people who live in the nursing home!
Nine year old Martha, from Candia NH,
started a Ranger Club. Martha started having parties to raise
money for the World Wildlife Fund. In the last three years she has
raised more then $300.00!
Eleven year old Laura, from Londonderry NH,
made crafts to sell
so that she could donate the money to Hope For The Children, which
is an orphanage in Haiti. Laura made bracelets, flower pins,
flower pencil toppers, flower candy boxes, and pressed flower
bookmarks. Her brother, sister, and mom all helped to make some of
the crafts. Laura raised over $200.00!
Thirteen year olds Lauren and Cynthia,
from Windham NH, started a Halloween Trail to raise money
for an animal shelter. They enjoyed hanging with their friends
and having fun. Lauren and Cynthia raised over $70.00!
Seven year old Ross, from Bow NH, had a very
special birthday party. Instead of presents he asked his guests
to bring birthday party decorations to give to Friends Emergency
Housing, which is a shelter for women and children in crisis.
Ross collected two baskets full of decorations! The shelter loved
them and sent him a special thank you letter.
