Tapiridae - tapirs

Baird's  tapirThere are four species in this family. Three species of tapir are found in from Mexico south to South America and one species, the Malayan tapirs, is found in Asia. Tapirs are found in rainforests. The Malayan tapirs is black and white. The other three species are gray or brown. Tapirs have rounded rumps, wedge-shaped heads, a short tails, and short, trunk-like snout. They have three hoofed toes on their feet. Tapirs are herbivores.
