Discoglossidae - Painted Frogs

There are five species in this family of frogs. They are found in Western Europe, North Africa, and Israel. They spend the day in underground burrows and come out at night. In two species in this family, the Mallorcan midwife toad and the midwife toad, the male attaches fertilized eggs to his legs and back and carries them to the water!
