Ctenomyidae - tuco-tucos

tuco-tucoThere are 60 species in this family. They are all found in central and southern South America. They have stocky bodies; large, rounded heads; small ears; short necks; long tails; and clawed feet. they have loose skin that helps them easily move around in burrows. They are herbivores and most species live in burrows in colonies.
