This season, SESAME STREET addresses the critical stages of development that help children get ready for school. Whether the focus is on learning about emotions; developing task persistence; learning how to take turns, share or how to follow directions; making new friends or learning how to interact in a social group; the series' underlying goal is to engage and educate children of the challenges they may face as they enter school. Building on last season's successful campaign to help children establish an early foundation of healthy habits, season 37 also includes new segments aimed at healthy eating, physical activity and hygiene.

8/1 The Amazing Alphabet Race (4154)
mo knows his ABCs so well that he has been chosen to be a contestant on The Amazing Alphabet Race, a game show hosted by Amazing Al. To win, he has to find all the letters of the alphabet before a clucking chicken tap-dances his way to a gong.
8/4 Ralphie the Parrot Flies Away (Episode 4155 )
After Baby Bear brags to Alan about his pet parrot, Ralphie, the bird upsets him by flying away and hiding in a tree.
8/5 Chris Teaches Elmo How To Bowl (Episode 4156 )
Chris tries to teach Elmo how to bowl, but the lessons don't go well at first and Elmo gets frustrated.
8/6 Elmo Shows Abby How To Pretend (Episode 4157 )
Abby shows Elmo a frog named Prince and explains that he used to be a real prince. So Elmo asks her to kiss his cheek to see if he will turn into a frog, too.
8/7 Elmo Is Jealous of Marco (Episode 4158 )
Elmo and Gina start a game of checkers, but then she has to leave to go feed Marco, leaving Elmo feeling jealous and upset.
8/8 Rosita Gets Upset at Zoe and Abby (Episode 4159 )
Rosita and Zoe are all set to play Hide and Seek when Abby appears and says that she knows a great game, too: Jumping Rhymes!

Leela meets a talking letter "O" while making a videotape of Sesame Street for her parents in India.

Baby Bear and Telly catch a firefly, realize that it is sad to be trapped in a jar and let it go.
8/19 Max the Magician (Episode 4166 )
Everyone tries to figure out the secrets to Max the Magician's tricks. The tricks are actually math!
8/20 The Bookaneers (Episode 4135)
Alan and Elmo are reading a book in Hooper's store when a pirate ship and three pirates suddenly appear. The pirates announce that they are called the Bookaneers because they love to read.

Abby has a magical book called The Wild Adventures of Action Dog that moves and makes sounds along with the story. When Telly and Baby Bear borrow it, it flies out of their hands and crashes to the ground. The book is OK—but then they realize that the word "dog" has popped out and run off.
