Designed by by Ruth Brocklehurst, Susannah Owe, Anna Milbourne
ISBN: 0794501494 Published: 2002

This colorful book features animals in a variety of habitats. Children are encouraged to see if they can locate and count the animals on each page.

Read

Preview the book with your child. Explain that it is an animal counting book. Encourage your child to count the animals they see.

Do

Create your own animal page with the types of animals you might see in your yard or neighborhood.

What are some other things can you count around the house? How many places are there to sit? How many windows are there in a room? How many things to drink are there in your refrigerator? How many things to read are there in your room?

Take a nature walk and see how many animals you can spot.

See if you can name a type of animal for each letter of the alphabet. If you can't think of an animal for a letter, see if you can do some research and find one. Make a book about the animals you named.

Choose an animal and learn more about it.
