   Thirteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

The Wapapongs

Once upon a time in a grassy area of Africa, there lived a group of animals called the Wapapongs. Their leader was a lion who they called King Wam II and everyone else was called Pawas.

I suppose I should tell you that where these animals lived was bathed in darkness. The Sun just never shone and I bet you know what problems that caused them. That's right. They couldn't see and they were always bumping into each other and never finding their way home.
