Lin-Wood Public High School Defeats Sant Bani on Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, October 8, 2009) – Lin-Wood Public High School claimed victory over Sant Bani School by a score of 150 to 120 on Wednesday's Granite State Challenge. This match was the tightest yet this season, as both teams rose to the challenge. Granite State Challenge airs Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and again, Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.

The triumphant Lin-Wood Lumberjacks included seniors Josh Pinkham, Jake McGinley, Alexandra Bartlett and Nate King, as well as alternates Joe Drapeau and Casey Sellingham. They were coached by David Webster Jr. and Mike Weaner. Their opponents, the Sant Bani Swans, included seniors Nik Lockwood and Tajian deMello-Folsom, junior Marc Gonzalez, sophomore Andres Orr and alternates Erik Braconier and Dylan Dinger. They were coached by Jonathan Powell.

Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. The contest emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts - along with a smattering of pop culture trivia and New Hampshire topics. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Lori Warriner interviews team members prior to the game.
