MANCHESTER CENTRAL ADVANCES TO THE SECOND ROUND OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, March 28, 2015 ) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Manchester Central High School beat Dover High School by a score of 295 to 180. It was anybody's game to win by the end of the first round, but Manchester then gained a strong lead and kept it until the end of the game.The Manchester Little Greens were represented by captain Liam Downing, Anthony Arnieri, Elizabeth Lavoie, and Aiden Stergiou, and were coached by Lorraine Meyette. The Dover Green Waves were represented by captain Tim Mainella, Hayden Proborowski, Quinlan Payne, and Ian Anderson, and were coached by Eric Salmonsen and Andrew Chase.Watch the match online.Manchester Central High School now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. The GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE quarter-finals kick off next week with a match between Bishop Guertin High School and Bow High School on Saturday, April 4 at 6 p.m. on NHPTV PRIME.New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team.
