FIFTH ANNUAL PASSPORT TOUR AT STRAWBERY BANKE MUSEUM

(PORTSMOUTH, NH, June 27, 2013) – The best in craft beer and local culinary creations will be on tap September 14th at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth. The 2013 PASSPORT Craft Beer & Food Pairing Tour, a benefit for New Hampshire Public Television and Strawbery Banke Museum, offers guests a savory range of over 20 craft beers deliciously paired with appetizers from area restaurants and food purveyors. Guests stroll the museum's historic grounds, sampling and learning about leading craft beer styles and the cuisines they complement. The Jim Dozet Trio will perform throughout the evening at the 5th annual PASSPORT event. Smuttynose Brewing’s director of brewing operations David Yarrington and Chef Evan Hennessey of Flavor Concepts Catering are guiding the pairings. It offers a pub crawl through history, showing how brewers and tavern keepers helped shape Portsmouth at a time when beer and hard cider were healthier alternatives to water. It also revisits some taverns in Portsmouth and New Castle that settlers frequented.Participating PASSPORT breweries to date, with more to be added, include: Smuttynose Brewing Company, Portsmouth Brewery, Earth Eagle Brewings, Great Rhythm Brewing Company, Martha’s Exchange Brewing, Moat Mountain Brewing, Samuel Adams, Seven Barrel Brewery, Throwback Brewery, Tuckerman Brewing Company, White Birch Brewing, Woodstock Inn Brewery, and 7th Settlement. Participating PASSPORT restaurants and food purveyors to date include: Portsmouth Brewery, Black Trumpet, Cabot Cheese, Cava, Ceia Kitchen and Bar, The Common Man, Demeters Steakhouse, Green Monkey, The Hideout Grill, Martingale Wharf, McKinnon’s Market & Super Butcher Shop, Moxy, North Country Smokehouse, One Hundred Club, Pete and Gerry’s Heirloom Eggs, Popper’s Artisanal Meats, Stages at One Washington, Black Birch Restaurant, When Pigs Fly, Zampa, and 7th Settlement. Passport Main Event 5 – 7:30 PM. Stroll Strawbery Banke Museum’s grounds while enjoying a savory tour of craft beers from over 20 brewers, perfectly paired with appetizers prepared by local chefs. Learn about beer styles and the cuisines they complement. Guests receive a special PASSPORT glass, and PASSPORT plate & drink holder to use at the event. Vegetarian appetizers are available. Tickets for the Passport Main Event are $65, and its designated driver ticket is $30. Diplomat VIP Reception 4 – 7:30 PM. A PASSPORT Diplomat VIP ticket includes early admission to the Main Event and entry to the VIP tent where Diplomats can gather and sample exclusive beer and food pairings all evening. Guests receive a special PASSPORT glass, and PASSPORT VIP plate & drink holder to use at the event. Tickets for the Passport Diplomat VIP are $100, and its designated driver ticket is $50.
