USA Springs
Bottled water sales in the U-S have "tripled" in the past 10 years. It's become a billion dollar industry. To meet demand, bottlers are looking to expand their pumping operations and find new sites to drill wells. Such is the case with USA Springs, which has set its sights on Nottingham. Residents, fearing local wells will dry up or become contaminated, have been fighting the plan. Last week, the company won a major victory when the State issued a permit allowing the bottler to begin withdrawing water from 3 wells. The Opposition, which began amid a water shortage in New Hampshire, not subsided. In-studio guests are: Tony Giunta from the state Department of Environmental Services, Armand Hyatt, the Attorney for USA Springs, and Bill McCann from the group "Save our Groundwater".
Tracing Family History
Many people trace their family's genealogy and learn surprising things about their past. One New Hampshire woman traced her ancestors all the way to the witches of Salem, Massachusetts. We'll see what Margo Burns has learned about her connection to Rebecca Nurse and the witch trials.
