Be Whole

Be Whole

Any food made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley or another cereal grain is a grain product. Bread, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals, tortillas, and grits are examples of grain products. Here are some easy ways to incorporate whole grains into your daily diet:

  • Choose whole wheat flour tortillas and bread rather than white
  • Choose brown rice rather than white rice
  • Choose whole wheat flake cereal or oatmeal for breakfast

Grains are divided into 2 subgroups, whole grains and refined grains. Click here to learn more about these two types of grains and to see a list of commonly eaten grain foods.
