These activities offer learning opportunities and resources for children, parents, teachers, childcare porviders and others who work with children and families.

NHPTV's Ready To Learn Workshop Details:

  • Free Workshops for Adults —"Recipe for Health: Nutrition, Exercise and Children."
  • Family Health Nights for Elementary Schools (K-5)
  • Family Health Nights for Preschools, Family Centers, and Childcare Agencies (Pre-K-3)

 

Workshop Details:

Pre-registration is required to attend any of these events.

Free Workshops for Adults: "Recipe for Health: Nutrition, Exercise and Children."

This workshop focuses on:

  • Raising awareness and what parents, teachers and childcare providers can do
  • Prevention: Helping children learn to make healthy choices
  • Developing a healthy lifestyle for the WHOLE family
  • Making healthy choices fun and positive (emphasizing what you CAN do)
  • Balance!

Family Health Night for Elementary Schools (K-5) AND Family Health Night for Preschools, Family Centers, and Childcare Agencies (Pre-K-3) Family Health Nights provide an evening of fun, activities, information about family nutrition and fitness, ideas and resources, and children's health-related books. Although the schools, family centers and childcare agencies pay a nominal fee to RTL to conduct these sessions, there is no cost to attend. Pre-registration to attend is required.

Topics include:

  • Suggestions for healthy snacks
  • Ideas for meals that are nutritious AND low-cost
  • What's in it-- nutrition facts on packaging
  • Eat Your Colors and the Food Pyramid
  • Feeding picky eaters
  • Fun fitness ideas for home and school
  • Be an advocate for healthy children
  • Make healthy choices fun and positive
  • Take one step
