Video and Audio Media on the Web

Multiple Subjects

Annenberg Media
Annenberg Media has a wealth of classroom videos designed to provide professional development to teachers and course content to college and high school students. The videos are password protected. Users need to set up a free account to access them. You can give learners a link to the pages with all the videos for a show listed and tell them which episode to click on. You can also embed links to videos within your web page, but it can be a little tricky! You can also tell your students where you would like them to begin viewing the video by giving them a start time in the video that they can then drag the scroll bar to in the video window. You can also give them an end point.

To embed a link:
1. Click on the VOD icon to the right of the episode description. This will open up the video in a new window.
2. Right click on the black edge of the video window - do not click on the video itself - and then select "Properties"
3. Highlight the URL address in the properties box and copy the address. If you are using a PC you can copy the address by holding down your Control Key and hitting the C key one time. The address is now stored on your clipboard. (The address should follow this path: http://www.learner.org/vod/vod_window.html?pid=)
4. Return to the web document you want to embed the link in and paste in the URL you just copied as a link.
5. If you want to check to see if the video link works, paste the address into your browser and hit your enter key.
