Science Museums

The Science Museum
Jump across the pond and visit this science museum in London. You will find lots of interactive online exhibits including ones on energy, genes, the human lifecycle, the brain and more. You will also find Antenna, an exhibit dedicated to the latest science news presented in a kid-friendly way and Ingenious, a new Website with over 30,000 museum images making connections between people, innovations and ideas.

Museum of Science, Boston
This site is a little closer to home. Visit the Explore and Learn section for great virtual exhibits exploring everything from Ancient Egypt, to oceans, Everest, and electricity. Be sure to stop by the Educators Tools section for teacher resources and information.

The Exploratorium
The Website for this San Francisco museum has tons of online exhibits including ones that explore the science of music, biodiversity, faultlines, frogs, climate change, sport science and language. The site also features a large collection on online activities. But wait, there's more, the Exploratorium also hosts webcasts through out the year that explore a wide-variety of science topics.

The Franklin Institute
This Philadelphia museums Website has a wealth on online learning activities and educator resources. You'll find online exhibits on weather, the heart, flight, the brain and careers in science.

Smithsonian Institution
You will fond links to all of the Smithsonian Institution's museums here including the National Air and Space Museum , the National Zoo , and the Museum of Natural History.
Be sure to visit the Science and Technology section of the main site for links to resources by topic. You will also find special sections at the main site for kids and teachers. The kids section has loads of resources including a Flash exhibit that highlights object from the Institution's collections. NSDL is the Nation's FREE online library for education and research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

The NASA Website has a wealth of resources that explore earth and space science. The agency is huge so locating resources can be a challenge! Be sure to start with the
Kids, Students and Teacher sections! Here are some of the subsites for students at NASA:
At NASA Earth Science Enterprise For Kids Only you can explore how NASA studies the land, air, water, and natural hazards at this site. NASA's Kids Science News Network is a standards-based program for grades K-5 that uses the Web, animation, and video to introduce science, technology, engineering, math, and NASA concepts. NASA Space Place features games, animations and projects that explore the earth, space, and technology. NASA Kids is where you can learn about space, the planets, and more at this site from NASA.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Here's where you will find information on weather, oceans, coasts and climate. The agency is huge and you will find within it the National Weather Service, the National Marine Sanctuary Program where you can learn about the nation's marine sanctuaries from the Florida Keys and the to the Stellwagen Bank at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay. You will also find the National Marine Fisheries Service where you will find an image gallery, audio files of whale songs, and a section on sea turtles. If you are looking for classroom resources at NOAA, there is a special Education Section with sections for students and teachers that identify resources within the agency. Be sure to stop by the NOAA Photo Library for access to images from NOA's agencies.
