Born in the Little Italy section of New York City,
Gregorio Prestopino attended the National Academy of Design at the age
of 14. He was influenced by the Ashcan Artists and much of his work focuses
on urban life. Prestopino summered at the MacDowell Colony in 1934
and became its director in 1954. |
