Poet, critic, dramatist, and editor Howard Moss was born on January 22, 1922 in New York. Moss was poetry editor of the New Yorker magazine for over three decades, until his death in 1987. He received the National Book Award for poetry for his Selected Poems in 1971. Works include:  Instant Lives & More with illustrator Edward Gorey; and Buried City : Poems (1975)
