Let's Talk About Healthcare...
Your absolutely right, there's the problem, if we can fix the billing from hospitals to Medicare and cut out the excessive roundabout billing to the out sourced middle men it would be a start. You should not have gotten a bill for anything on your 1st visit unless you signed a waver saying you knew Medicare might not pay!
Here is one example of what is wrong with our healthcare system. Last May I went in for my first physical under Med-icare and 2 weeks later, I received 7 separate billings from 7 doctors/medical services; all of which had to be processed through Medicare first. I went to my doctor who is part of St. Joseph Hospital, then get billigs from all of these other providers, that first had to be submitted to Medicare for payment. All of those other providers should submit their billing to St. Joseph Hospital, who then makes one submittal to Medicare; then the hospital pays the other 6 providers.it's that simple but it's intentionally made complex and complicat-ed, which is why Medicare is so overloaded and error prone. I returned all of those separate billings to St.Joseph Hospital, refusing to pay all of those separate billings.
There is no reason in this world we need a new health care system, we can do better. Use the examples given to stop the out of controll spending to boost profits for these so called " non profits".
How does Medicaid managed care play into all this
20 years ago, you could get health insurance from any of more than twenty firms in NH, now only three remain. The track record of federal intervention in any free market of products and services has ultimately resulted in failure. Those here crowing the success of Social Security or Medicare have their collective heads buried in the sand. Each of these programs and the new healthcare legislation WILL result in abject failure. Not only should they pull their heads out, but also have them examined. The decisions I make with my doctor should not be interfered - period. And why anyone would ever place their faith in a lying thespian lawyer like Paul Hodes for advice on healthcare is beyond me.
