DTV Quick Reference

RESCANNING
    • If you’ve been receiving Channel 57 on your digital TV or with a digital converter box, you’ll need to rescan your channels on your converter box.

CABLE and SATELLITE ISSUES
    • If you have cable and you see a full-screen still graphic – your cable company has not switched to NHPTV’s digital signal; contact your cable company.
    • Some cable companies have move certain channels (Hallmark, MSNBC, etc.) to digital tiers. Contact your cable company if you want to comment on these changes.
    • If you receive local broadcast channels through satellite, the digital transition has not changed your TV service.

PORTABLE TVs
    • If your portable TV has an external antenna jack, you can buy a battery-powered converter box and connect it directly to the portable TV.
    • If it doesn’t, you can experiment with wrapping the center lead of the cable that comes out of the converter box around the portable TV’s antenna.

ANTENNAS
    • If you did not receive a TV station with an analog signal, it is unlikely that you will receive that station after the conversion.
    • If you don’t receive a signal or get frequent picture pixelization, you’ll probably need a better antenna system.
    • Rabbit Ears (set-top antenna): Add an amplifier or install an attic or rooftop antenna
    • Attic or rooftop: Add an amplifier, replace the flat twin-lead cable with coaxial cable
    • Ensure that you have the right type of antenna for the channel you are trying to watch:
      • VHF antenna picks up channels 2 - 13 (ex: DTV 11, Durham)
      • UHF antenna picks up channels 14 - 83 (ex: DTV 49 Keene, DTV 50 Hanover & DTV 48 Littleton)
