Juglandales

This order has two families and about 61 species.
All the species in this order are trees and their flowers are usually in catkins.

Juglandaceae - Walnut Family

There are about 60 species in this family. The male flowers or staminate are in catkins. The female flowers or pistillates are usually single flowers. This family of plants is pollinated by the wind. The fruit is a nut. Most of the species are found in temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. Plants include black walnut, butternut, pecan and hickory trees.

Rhoipteleaceae

This family has only one species that grows in China and northern Vietnam.
